[ Lie To Me ] [ Season 2 - Episode 07 ] [ Original Airdate: 11.03.97 ] [ Written/Directed: Joss Whedon ] The episode opens with a little boy waiting for his mother at the playground. Drusilla starts to talk to him but before she can kill him Angel shows up and makes the boy leave. Angel tells Drusilla to take Spike and leave town. But Drusilla is just beginning to have fun. Meanwhile, Buffy views this meeting from a rooftop not too far away. The next day at school, Buffy is passing notes to Willow in class, wondering who that mysterious women is that she saw Angel talking to last night. They think she might be a vampire. As they head to the lounge, Buffy runs into an old friend, Billy Fordham from her old school, Hemery High. Ford was Buffy's fifth grade crush but he was a manly sixth-grader and couldn't be bothered with someone that young. He tells Buffy that he is transfering to Sunnydale High. They decide to meet at the Bronze later that night. At the Bronze, Buffy meets up with Willow, Xander, and Ford. While Buffy goes to get a drink at the bar, she bumps into Angel. She asked him what he did last night but he tells her that he did nothing. Mad that Angel would not tell her the truth about who he was with last night, she asks Ford to go for a walk with her. Outside the Bronze, so she can secretly kill a vampire, Buffy tells Ford to go back to the Bronze and get her purse. But Ford goes after Buffy and tells her that he knows she is a Vampire Slayer. Next we see Ford inside the Sunset Club, a place for vampire wannabes. Diego and Chantarelle, two members of the club ask Ford if everything is going as planned. He tells them not to worry. That night Angel visits Willow at her house in her bedroom. He does not trust Ford and wants Willow to find out anything she can about him. Willow finds out that Ford is not registered at Sunnydale High but before she can find out more, her mother calls. She tells Angel she will tell him more tomorrow. The next night, Buffy takes Ford on a tour of Sunnydale but before her tour is finished she spots two vampires. Buffy fights and kills one but Ford tells the other vampire he will let her live if she gives him information. When Buffy comes back to check if Ford is ok, he lies and says he killed that vampire. Because those vampires were on school grounds, Buffy summons Giles and Ms. Calendar from their date at a monster truck rally. While she is telling Giles about the vampires, one of those vampires runs out of Giles' office with one of his books. Buffy is confused because Ford told her that he killed that vampire. Meanwhile, Angel, Xander, and Willow go to check out the Sunset Club and find out that these people worship vampires and so must Ford. At Spike's lair, Drusilla is sad that her bird died. Spike tries to comfort her but Ford walks right into the room. He wants to offer Spike a deal. If Spike will turn Ford into a vampire, Ford will give Spike the Slayer. Angel goes to visit Buffy to tell her what they learned about Ford. She knows about him but she really wants to know how Angel knows Drusilla. Angel tells her that he "did a lot of unconscionable things when [he] became a vampire. Drusilla was the worst. She was an obsession of [his]. First [he] made her insane. Killed everybody she loved. Visited every mental torture on her [he] could devise. She eventually fled to a convent, and on the day she took her holy orders, [he] turned her into a demon." The next day, Ford tells Buffy to meet him at the Sunset Club that night for a suprise. When she gets there, Ford has all the doors locked so that everyone is trapped inside. Buffy tries to find a way out but can't. She asks Ford why he is doing this because all these people are going to die. Ford tells her that he has brain tumors and is going to die anyways so he wants to become immortal and stay young forever. Finally Spike and his gang enter the Sunset Club and start to feed on the members. But Buffy sees Drusilla and holds a stake to her chest and threatens to kill her if Spike does not let everyone go. He tells everyone to back off and lets the humans leave. Buffy throws Drusilla at Spike and locks them in. Unfortunately, Ford is still in the club with the vampires. Later the next day, Buffy comes back for his body. At the end of the episode, Buffy is in the cemetery with Giles waiting for Ford to rise. When he does, Buffy stakes him. Buffy realizes that nothing's ever simple anymore. She doesn't know who to love or hate or who to trust. It's like the more she knows, the more confused she gets. Giles tells her that this is growing up but Buffy wants it to stop. She asks Giles if it gets any easier. She says to lie to her. He does but in the end she knows it's all a lie.
